The Lodge

The Lodge on the Bartholomew River

Located at the end on an un-improved road and overlooking the most scenic stretch of the Bartholomew River, the lodge accommodates a small number of guests who seek the tranquility and serenity of the North woods. Step down to the river and observe the mighty Atlantic salmon in its spawning beds. Don't be surprised to see black bear or white-tailed deer during one of your walks. You may flush a grouse in the nearby undercover or a rabbit bolts across your path. At dusk, flights of woodcock whirr across the meadow. Surprise the busy beaver pursuing his restless activities or watch the moose feeding in the nearby pond. While only a few miles from the nearest settlement, you will see nature unfold in its most surprising ways: Welcome to rural Canada.

Accommodation in the main lodge is in double- or triple-bedded rooms. Some folks enjoy their own „house-keeping“ bungalow. After a busy day outdoors, relax on the veranda or in front of the wood-stove. There is a library and video-cassettes. But mostly, over your favorite cocktail, share your day’s story with family and/or friends.

Meals: A sumptuous Canadian breakfast wil give you a headstart into a day on the river or in the woods. Lunches are packed and enjoyed out-doors. For the evening meal, everyone gathers at the lodge’s dining room.
